In the dynamic landscape of industrial operations, a facility recently appointed a new maintenance manager who needed assistance in optimizing the maintenance of conveyors—a critical component of the facility's workflow. Recognizing the need for expert guidance to streamline conveyor maintenance and enhance operational efficiency, the new maintenance manager sought a strategic solution.

 

The Challenge

With a new maintenance manager at the helm, the facility faced the task of swiftly addressing conveyor maintenance to ensure seamless operations. The challenge was twofold: first, to comprehensively assess the state of all conveyors and identify areas requiring attention, and second, to execute a tailored maintenance plan that would enhance overall efficiency.

In response to the identified challenge we engaged in a collaborative effort to devise a comprehensive strategy for conveyor maintenance.

 

The Solution

A strategic and systematic approach unfolded, demonstrating our commitment to optimizing conveyor performance and minimizing downtime:

 

  • Comprehensive Conveyor Mapping: Davis Industrial deployed a scissor lift and dedicated a day to meticulously map and identify all the conveyors within the facility. This step was crucial in gaining a comprehensive understanding of the conveyor infrastructure and determining the specific maintenance needs.
  • Targeted Maintenance Interventions: Following the comprehensive mapping, Davis Industrial executed a targeted maintenance plan. This included the installation of needed idlers, the long-awaited implementation of purchased chutes, patching of holes, replacement of skirting, gearbox oil changes, and thorough greasing of bearings across all identified conveyors.
  • Enhanced Up Time and Productivity: The strategic maintenance interventions yielded significant results. The facility experienced enhanced up time, ensuring a smoother workflow. Productivity increased as a direct result of the optimized conveyor maintenance, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
